I’ve always loved the fantasy genre. From watching my brother play Ultima IV, to the day I finally had my own WoW account, I was mesmerised by the endless possibilities created by a world spun of dreams and imagination. As an artist, fantasy has ruled my creative brain for most of my life. Dragons, aliens, elves and wizards have all been the subject of my sketchbook imaginings, fuel for the fire of my obsession with art. It has also set me outside or apart from most social circles because, as we all know, a keen interest in fantasy makes you weird.
I think the most important thing I have learned from being a part of the GM project is that everyone secretly has a little weird in them. We’ve all got that interest that makes us different, that hobby that our family doesn’t understand, those odd friends that other friends just don’t get. If we’re honest about it, it doesn’t set us apart… it brings us closer.
Every person I’ve come to know in the course of the GM project is weird. It’s wonderful. It’s refreshing. I love that I can be a part of a bunch of weirdos making awesome happen and sharing it with the rest of the world.
The greatest thing about all this weirdness is that bond it creates in all of us when we can unashamedly embrace all this mutual strange and realise that it is the weird in all of us that makes us not weird at all.
